WLP 2012 Application

BEFORE YOU BEGIN

Please note that this application requires submission of your resume, two essay questions, and a letter of recommendation.

You are NOT able to save your work and return to the application at a later time.  Therefore, please complete the essays and have your resume ready BEFORE you fill out the online application. Please see the necessary preparation instructions below. 
  
 
Resume
Please submit a current copy of your resume with your application. Your resume should highlight leadership positions, community service activities, and any public policy-oriented work or internships.

 
Letter of Recommendation
You are required to submit a letter of recommendation from an individual (other than a family member) qualified to speak to your leadership potential. This letter must be on the person's official letterhead and postmarked by January 20, 2012. Please download the application form and provide your recommender the instructions in Attachment A.

Essay
Please submit the following mandatory essays (in 200-300 words) listed below. Essays should include your full name and date. Please submit in .doc or .pdf format.

  • Why do you wish to participate in the Washington Leadership Program? What about WLP most appeals to you and why? How will WLP help you accomplish your professional goals?
  • Name a person who has shaped you as a leader.  How has this person impacted your idea of what makes an effective and influential leader?
  • Other than jobs and the economy, what do you think is the most pressing issue facing either the South Asian American community or your local community and why?
