 WLP APPLICATION 

Applications for the 2020 program are now open. Applications are due by January 15, 2020.

Please note that this application requires submission of:

 

  • Resume

  • Letter of recommendation

  • Two essay questions

  • Unofficial Transcript (optional)

You are NOT able to save a partially-filled application and return at a later time. Therefore, please complete the essays and have your resume ready BEFORE you fill out the online application. Please see guidelines below.

 

Application - The application must be submitted online but a packet that previews the application and instructions can be found here.

Resume - The resume should be limited to ONE page in length, and include your contact and school information. Your resume should highlight your educational background, honors and recognitions, and professional experience. Be sure to include leadership experience in word, campus or volunteer activities. For accepted applicants, your resume will be used in the internship placement process and shared with potential internship offices.

Letter of Recommendation - Please have an individual (other than a family member) who is qualified to speak to your leadership potential and commitment to public service submit a letter of recommendation on your behalf by January 15, 2020. The signed letter of reference must be on official letterhead and sent via PDF electronically to wlp@thewlp.com from your recommender’s official e-mail address. Please download the application packet for a"Request for a Recommendation Letter" you can share with your recommender.

 

Essays - Please submit an answer to all essay questions listed below. Each response should be approximately 300 words and include your full name at the top of each page. Please submit each essay as a separate file.

 

  1. How does the WLP experience connect to your personal and professional goals? What learnings from the summer do you plan to bring back to your campus or community?

  2. You have 2 minutes to convince a disenchanted South Asian American voter in your state that their vote for matters. What would you say?

Transcript - Unofficial transcripts may be submitted to give your application additional context.
